The ruling implies acceptance of a US blockade on Venezuelan aircraft within the framework of a mutual legal assistance treaty signed between the two countries in 1991. The request was circulated through the Argentine Ministry of Justice.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro questioned Argentina for keeping a Venezuelan plane at Eziza airport for two months. He also hit out at the United States for requests to seize it.

“Now they want to confiscate an aircraft in Argentina because of a court decision in Florida, that is, from now on, a court in Florida or New York decides to take a ship, an airplane or any property from Venezuela. Anybody country and you can do it,” the president said.
