Actor Arjun Rampal reached Mumbai’s Narcotics Control Bureau office on Friday for interrogation in the drugs case. The anti-drug agency has made a list of questions that the actor wants to ask about banned painkillers, which officials said this week Was initially seized from his home. The NCB on Thursday questioned fellow Gabriela Demetriades for the second consecutive day in connection with the ongoing investigation into the alleged drug nexus in Bollywood.
Arjun Rampal’s medicines suspected
The NCB had raided her house on 9 November and found a banned drug. The finance ministry banned the drug under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in 2018 after a massive smuggling racket was busted. An NCB official said, ‘At the time of the investigation, we did not get any valid leaflets and we were shown nothing [by Rampal]. If he brings the prescription on Friday, a thorough investigation will be done to find out if it is genuine and who determines that the drugs are appropriate. ‘
International link revealed
The NCB, however, refused to reveal the drug’s name, fearing that it would hamper the investigation. Rampal was scheduled to appear before the NCB on Wednesday, but the agency revealed an international link to the case and possibly related to an international drug cartel, and arrested Australian architect Paul Bartell on Friday after questioning. Barthel’s name came up during the interrogation of Gabriela’s brother Agicillos Demetriades.
