The skin is the largest organ in the human body and performs important functions, such as protecting the person from external agents or acting as a barrier against fluid damage. In addition, skin diseases can also be a sign of more serious health problems. Despite this, dermatology is often perceived as a specialty that deals with aesthetic issues and therefore does not receive the same attention as other medical specialties.

Based on his experience as a patient, Andy Aguilar discovered a deficiency in this type of medicine and decided to create Legit.Health in 2017, a Bilbao startup called a clinical diagnosis tool to detect more than 232 visible pathologies of the skin. “Prior to founding the company, I worked for years to find the special medical treatment I needed for a chronic skin condition. My knowledge in technology pushed me to create a solution that could improve access to specialized medical care for all people, regardless of location or economic status”, explains Andy Aguilar, co-founder of Legit.Health.

Patients can download this platform to any mobile device, through which they can capture film images of the affected areas. The doctor examines it and decides if the patient needs a consultation. To achieve this, it has the support of technology, which provides an assessment of the severity, in addition to the information provided by the consent of the doctors, when the program learns both cases.

In addition, it allows to know which people can be treated in primary care and who should be referred to a specialist. From this time, it follows automated, regardless of which doctor takes the patient, who will be able to consult the prescribed treatment and will be able to receive alerts for new photo posts from time to time. If the system detects an inappropriate development, it will send a monitor to the doctor to change the treatment or make an appointment with the patient.
