Field representatives were in the headlines during the Asian Cup
Sri Lanka was allowed to host nine out of 13 games in the 2023 Asian Cup. It rained during most of these games but the groundsmen ensured that each game had a score and maximum overs were played. The Super Four match between India and Pakistan was completed in two days. It rained heavily on both days during the game. Nevertheless, the result of the game was announced. During this time, the groundskeepers had to come onto the field several times with covers and everything from foam to fans was used to dry the wet field.
Nine matches of this tournament were played in Sri Lanka and it rained in almost every match. Despite this, only one game remained a draw due to rain. Around 50 overs were played in this match too. However, the rain did not stop after the end of India’s innings and the game had to be abandoned. Sri Lanka’s groundsmen had received a lot of praise on social media for their hard work and now ACC has made everyone rich by appreciating it.
