ASUS innovates in a big way with the new VivoWatch 5 AERO

ASUS today announced the VivoWatch 5 AERO, the first smart bracelet to offer Pulse Time Transit (PTT) and blood oxygen measurements by simply placing a finger on its screen for a short time. VivoWatch 5 AERO incorporates photoplethysmography (PPG) and electrocardiography (ECG) sensors that monitor the user’s vital signs in real time. This data is automatically synced with the ASUS Health Connect app to instantly display a comprehensive list of vital signs.

Integrated ECG and PPG sensors

ASUS VivoWatch 5 AERO is the world’s first wristwatch with built-in microelectric (for ECG) and optical (for PPG) sensors. The user simply selects a function on the smartband and places a finger on the sensor to provide accurate PTT and blood oxygen measurements in real time. VivoWatch 5 AERO can measure heart rate at rest, during exercise and while sleeping, and also provides valuable information on stress levels.

VivoWatch 5 AERO can also monitor sleep patterns and nocturnal snoring to improve the quality of rest periods, as well as cardiovascular risks. Users can place their index on the two sensors of the VivoWatch 5 AERO for a period that can vary from 20 to 25 seconds, to obtain individual frames with the ASUS HealthyGroup data sharing function. They can then use the ASUS HealthConnect app to share results with their doctor.

Pulse transit time (PTT) and pulse oximetry (SpO2) measurements

ASUS VivoWatch 5 AERO includes various monitoring modes and a graphical heart rate display that can be used to assess the state of the heart and cardiovascular system. VivoWatch 5 AERO uses the time difference between signals collected by ECG and PPG sensors to calculate flow velocities in arterial vessels and pressure conditions generated by vessel walls during normal contraction and relaxation of the heart. The sensors on the back of the face of the VivoWatch 5 AERO bracelet, meanwhile, measure pulse rate and blood oxygen every hour automatically, and heart rate every 10 minutes. This vigilance is even more exhausted in sleep, since in moments of rest this vigilance of the heart occurs minute by minute.

Resistant to dust and immersion in water up to 50 meters

ASUS VivoWatch 5 AERO resists dust and immersion in water up to a depth of 50 meters. It has several modes of exercise such as running, treadmill running, swimming, yoga and much more. Built-in GPS, IC antennas, and G-sensor accurately track routes when running and hiking, even if you don’t have your phone on you. Among its advanced notifications, it includes incoming call notifications, message alerts, inactivity alerts, alarms, medication alerts, etc. The VivoWatch 5 AERO is finished with a 16mm convertible strap, running on a magnetic surface system and boasts a battery life of up to seven days in power saving mode.

The ASUS VivoWatch 5 AERO can be purchased for €129 RRP.

ASUS HealthConnect App

The ASUS HealthConnect app analyzes the data collected by the ASUS VivoWatch 5 AERO and provides the user with information about their health. Users of the app can use the collected data and share it with friends, family and healthcare professionals. In addition, the ASUS HealthAI feature hosted on ASUS HealthConnect provides the user with personalized advice on healthy behavior and management.

By downloading ASUS HealthConnect to mobile, users can also use the VivoWatch 5 AERO as a Bluetooth® remote to control the smartphone’s camera.
