At Least 1 Dead, 1 Injured After Grocery Store Shooting In Richland, Wash.

At least one person is dead and another injured after a man opened fire at a Fred Meyer grocery store in Richland, Washington, on Monday and fled the scene.

Police say they’re on the lookout for a white male, likely in his 30s, who is presumed to be armed and dangerous, likely with a handgun.

Cpt. Chris Lee with the Richland Police Department told KVEW News that it’s unclear whether this was a targeted attack.

A witness who was in the store at the time told the station he heard “around a dozen shots” fired.

Photos of the suspect circulated by police show an individual wearing a black vest with a long-sleeve gray and black plaid shirt underneath. Police are unsure if he left on foot or in a vehicle.

The Richland Police Department said in a statement they received a call about yelling and possible gunshots at the store at 11:03 am, with officers arriving on scene at 11:04 am One person has died, and another is hospitalized.

“Again, the suspect is still at large,” the department said. “Please avoid the area.”
