At least nine people were injured in a shooting on the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk in Florida on Monday. A shooter has been arrested, but other suspects are being sought. Yanet Obario Sanchez, a spokeswoman for Memorial Healthcare System Health Center, confirmed that the victims of the attack were six adults and three children. He also clarified that the condition of all the victims is stable. Many of the injured were taken to Children’s Hospital.
Meanwhile, police spokeswoman Dianna Bettynsky said the shooting happened in the aforementioned Miami waterfront area shortly before 7:00 p.m. There, a fight was recorded where someone pulled out at least one weapon and shots were fired. Local police have arrested a suspect, but the search is on for others involved.
Meanwhile, Police Chief Chris O’Brien said there were thousands of people in the area and dozens of police officers, some of whom were nearby. The shooting occurred on the boardwalk near a grocery store, a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream parlor, and a Subway restaurant.
As a result of the conflict, police mobilized a large number of agents at the scene while the investigation was ongoing. The authorities also set up a special area so that relatives can meet the victims.
“Thank you to the Good Samaritans, EMTs, police officers and ER doctors and nurses for your immediate response to help the victims of today’s shooting,” Hollywood Mayor Josh Levy said in a statement.
