At least three people were killed and four others were injured in a shooting in a residential area of the city of Los Angeles, California in the southwestern United States (USA), local police said.

Sergeant Frank Preciado of the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the shooting occurred just after 2:30 p.m. local time in the Beverly Crest neighborhood of Los Angeles, just north of Beverly Hills.
Of the seven people who were shot, four were outsiders. All the three deceased were traveling in a vehicle.
Their identities were not disclosed, while the injured were taken to hospital and their condition is critical.
Preciado said he had no information on what prompted the shooting, or if it happened at a residence. This is the fourth mass shooting in California this month.
The shooting comes a week after a ballroom massacre in a Los Angeles suburb that left 11 dead and nine injured.
In South San Francisco, a gunman opened fire on two mushroom farms on Monday, January 23, shooting and killing seven people and wounding one.
For the third year in a row, the US will record more than 600 mass shootings in 2022, killing or injuring at least four people, according to the Archive of Gun Violence.
