Quebec is full of legendary Nordic spas, but the formula is almost the same everywhere, with a wide range of spaces common to all clients. There is something for everyone, but what if you could meet your loved ones? This is precisely the idea that the massage clinic Francis Columba had when he opened the Au Snooze micro spa, in Grandes-Piles.
Nestled in the hills of Mauritius, the spa offers treatment space as well as its own thermotherapy circuit with a hot bath, sauna and cold shower, but never welcomes more than one time. . “Six is ​​the magic number to make it comfortable for everyone, both for indoor space and for sitting or lying outside,” Ms. Columba explains, showing us its facilities, open since the summer of 2019.
The site, which has a large comfortable gallery and a beautiful hanging market, offering a panoramic view of the Laurentian forest, is completely maintained by the same group for a minimum of two hours – you can go up to six. three o’clock Customers can bring food and drink, they can even choose their own music. “I think it’s like renting a chalet, but where you can’t spend the night,” says Francis Columba. You bring your own food, your own drinks, and you enjoy it outside and inside. And if people don’t bring anything, I always provide a plate with apples, cheese, dark chocolate, energy bars, herbal tea. When it comes to this, I know that thermotherapy has whetted my appetite! » There are of course also towels and bathrobes.
Massage treatments are offered by the team: “If I have a group of four people who all need a massage, I’m the one who arranges the schedule,” explains the owner. I often do a couple of customers in a row when people arrive, then leave the group for a while, and then the last two licks. A massage therapist for 18 years, Francisca Columba favors Swedish Sussigation, but she also benefits from various training courses gained over the years, such as the Californian method, reiki, reflexology or lymphatic drainage. “Swedish has suspended it completely, but it needs a price,” he said. Sometimes people also want to relax and not stay in a fair way for an hour, because when you always feel where you are wrong, they would not accept. »

We host groups of friends, birthday parties, team building sessions for small SMEs, but also many families. “I welcome children, let’s say from 4 years, but young people should always be connected with an adult until they are older, notes Ms. Columba. There are no children who like it because they have had tinnitus before, and others in whom it is their first experience; the initiation therefore lasts no more than 30 minutes. »
Everything is aimed at making the experience as user-friendly as possible, and this is certainly what distinguishes Au Snooze from the big spas. “We are going to say to each other, the most beautiful, great spa, it’s super, you go in and it’s awesome,” acknowledges Ms Dove, who has worked in the famous spa for eight years. But there are many rules, you pay a lot and you cannot speak, or if you try to relax because you are tired, sometimes you are harassed by those who do not speak the difficulty…
As for the rates, we are talking about $55 per person for two hours, we add $15 per person for each additional hour. It is $22 an hour for children under 16. You can also treat yourself to a la team treatment for $79 per hour, but there is also a package for two that includes access to the sauna, bath and cold shower for $250 for three hours.
