According to Google searches, a new study has revealed that British citizens are more inclined to visit Australia than any other country in the world.
The study analyzed Google search data to establish which countries were searching the most when UK residents moved permanently.
The research found that Australia was the most Googled country, with a combined 6,400 average monthly searches for terms like ‘migration to Australia’ and ‘Australian visa’ being conducted by Brits.
According to Google Trends, there has been a 125% increase in searches for the term ‘migration to Australia’ in the UK since March 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic began. On average 58,000 UK citizens migrate to the country a year, in search of sun and lifestyle changes.
Canada is the second most sought after place by Britons when it comes to going abroad. The combined search volume for terms including ‘immigrate to Canada’ and ‘Canadian visa’ comes to 5,400 per month.
The third most sought-after country for emigrating Brits is New Zealand with a combined search volume of 3,600 per month. According to Google Trends data, the interest of UK residents to immigrate to New Zealand has increased by 14% in the past year.
The United States is the fourth most sought-after destination for relocating Brits. There are 2,500 combined monthly searches by UK residents moving to the US. South Africa ranks fifth with 1,330 searches a month for stays and visas in the country.
There are many reasons why Britons want to move abroad, whether it is because of the warm climate, the cheap economy, or for the sake of their loved ones. With an average of 400,000 Britons migrating each year, this data provides a fascinating insight into where UK residents want to relocate this year.
