B.C. health officials report 2,275 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, January 14

The B.C. Ministry of Health reported 2,275 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, January 14.

Since the start of the pandemic, 293,521 cases of COVID-19 have been reported.

New cases were reported in these health areas:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 523
  • Fraser Health: 813
  • Island Fitness: 297
  • Internal Health: 412
  • Northern Health: 227
  • Residents outside Canada: 3

The province currently has 35,943 active cases of COVID-19.

251,846 people who tested positive have been cured.

The hospital now has a total of 646 people with COVID-19, of whom 95 are in critical care – the ICU or acute care unit.

Note that the “currently in hospital” data source has been changed to bed census data. Currently, hospital statistics are reported by the hospital in which the patient is admitted and not by the patient’s place of residence. There are 18 patients in the provincial health service authority who are hospitalized in total.

Six new people have died from COVID-related causes, taking the provincial death toll to 2,468.

the outbreak

There has been an outbreak of 1 new health care facility in the province: Royal Jubilee Hospital (Island Health).

The outbreak is over at Zorney Alzheimer’s Center, Fort Langley Seniors Community, The Residence in Mission, Dania Home, White Rock Seniors Village (Fraser Health), Fraserview Retirement Community, Lakeview Care Center and Crofton Manor (Vancouver Coastal Health).

There are a total of 46 ongoing health care outbreaks in the province.

There are currently 11 health care outbreaks in the island health sector.


As of Friday, January 14:

  • BC. 9,962,096 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in
  • 89.0% (4,436,446) of eligible people aged five years and older in BC received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 83.3% (4,152,386) received their second dose.
  • Of eligible people 12 and older in BC, 92.3% (4,278,594) received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 89.6% (4,151,964) received their second dose and 30.5% (1,412,008) had received their third dose received.
  • Of all eligible adults in BC, 92.7% (4,008,308) received their first dose, 90.0% (3,894,687) received their second dose and 32.6% (1,410,852) received their third dose.
