Colombo: Based on unbeaten centuries by Virat Kohli and KL Rahul and an unbroken double-century partnership between the two, India set a target of 356 runs for Pakistan. After this, with Kuldeep Yadav’s spin magic, India defeated Pakistan by 228 runs in a rain-affected Asia Cup Super Four match. It was India’s biggest win in terms of runs against Pakistan. All the batsmen including captain Babar Azam failed for Pakistan.
What did Babar say after the defeat?
Pakistan captain Babar Azam said after the defeat that the Indian openers came out with a plan against their bowlers. Babar said- Time is not in our hands but we are trying our best. We did not perform well in our batting and bowling. The Indian openers planned for our bowlers and got off to a good start. After this Virat and Rahul took it forward and got it done.
Babar was disappointed with the batsmen
The Pakistan captain looked frustrated with his batting. He said that their batsmen could not form a partnership in front of the Indian bowlers. Babar further said, ‘Jasprit and Siraj bowled well in the first 10 overs and worked the ball in both directions, but our batting was not as expected. We kept losing wickets and couldn’t build a partnership.
Pakistan’s second biggest loss
It was Pakistan’s second biggest defeat in the history of ODI cricket. It was the team’s biggest defeat against India. Pakistan’s biggest loss in ODIs was against Sri Lanka in 2009. Then they lost by 243 runs in Lahore.
