badger going to bowl
The win was UW’s sixth of the season, making the Badgers bowl eligible for a 20th consecutive season. This extends the program’s longest such streak, and UW has the nation’s third-longest bowl streak behind Georgia (25) and Oklahoma (23).
“We expect more than just a bowl game,” said senior safety Colin Wilder. “But bowl games are a lot of fun. From that year on, bowl games are created to reward teams for their success. It’s great to know – for me personally, I’m sure the rest of these seniors will say the same thing – we get another game with this group. “
Paul Christ is 5-1 in the bowl game as the Badgers’ head coach. He said the order of the bowling is meaningful because it is a reflection of each of those teams’ ability to earn another chance to play together.
“It is never given,” said Christ. “I hear people talk about (streak) … and I hate to hear it, because it’s not a given. You have to go out and earn it. You’re going to go into getting that opportunity. Appreciate everything. Whatever you have earned is a good thing.”
Cesar Williams, a sixth-year senior, said he hoped to get a bowl game within the Badgers’ locker room, and now aims to make it the best bowl game ever.
“That’s the goal now – treat every game like someone is trying to send us home,” Williams said. “We can improve the bowling game with every win.”
