Ballad of songbirds and snakesthe prequel to the saga The hunger Games, hits theaters November 17th. The film, directed by Francis Lawrence, is set in a post-apocalyptic Panem and judging by the director’s words, promises to be at least as brutal as its predecessors.
It takes place several decades before Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) was offered as a tribute, the protagonist is Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), a tribute led by Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth). the tenth Hunger Games which are celebrated annually.
As Lawrence revealed in an interview with Empire, Zegler was surprised by the first day of filming. “We call the opening of the games the carnage, and that’s exactly what she had to deal with straight away.”He commented. “She left the set with bruises almost every day, but her qualities as a fighter came through,” he added.
Although Lucy Gray is from the same district as Katniss Everdeen, Lawrence has said this before The two characters look nothing aliketo the point where he described Lucy Gray as the anti-Katniss. “Katniss was an introvert and a survivor. She was quite quiet and stoic, you could almost say she was asexual.”. Lucy Gray is the complete opposite. “She’s showing her sexuality and performing,” he told Empire. “She loves the masses.” “He knows how to play with the masses and manipulate them,” he clarified.
