Barcelona lost to Real Sociedad in the title premiere

Barcelona could not match against Real Sociedad and lost 2-1 in their match corresponding to the 35th day of LaLiga. Xavi Hernandez’s side failed to win in their first match after consecration and suffered their first defeat at Camp Nou all season.

Tuxuri-Urdin had the first chance of the match clear after good pressure from Alexander Sorloth on Jules Kunde. The Norwegian got into the area after a long drive and found a pass to Mikel Merino in the right sector. The midfielder finished first and, despite the fact that Marc-Andre ter Stegen pipped the ball, it went in and established the tour’s opening advantage.

Kule’s team reached from the same position after about a quarter of an hour. A pressure in the opponent’s exit allowed Robert Lewandowski to take that ball inside the area and, without a shot angle, launch a punchy cross towards the left post. Ousmane Dembele finished the ball but Alex Ramiro blocked the goal with his foot.

Quickly, the local struck again after a long ball from down low that fell inside the French area. The defense ran away before the Polish striker could take control and Frank Casey came from behind to take a shot that was crossed over the baseline by Robin Le Normand.

In a match in which possession was distributed, despite a good pass from the local team, the most obvious were for the San Sebastián team and they showed it once again after about half an hour. After a play by Aritz Elustondo on the right with an aimless cross, Rafinha wanted to play backwards and passed the ball to Ander Barentexia, who finished with a half-turn, but the shot was weak.

Moments later, Sorloth led the counterattack down left field and found Muhammad-Ali Cho on the opposite side. The Frenchman tried to head the ball past the left post, but Ter Stegen reacted too well to avoid the target.

Before the end of the first half, Cho closed in on the edge of the area from the right and filtered a through ball for Baranetxea. The winger tried to poke the ball over the goalkeeper, but his shot went a little high.

With the introduction of add-ons, the attitude of the match remained the same. Around 55′, Diego Rico took a low cross from the left which Sorloth was unable to connect at the gate of the six-yard box.

Finally, after 71 minutes, Real Sociedad was able to extend the lead. After a recovery by Martin Zubimendi, Real counterattacked through Kubo. The left opened up with the Japanese wheel and he changed course to find Sorloth alone on the right. The Norwegian did not waive in the one-on-one and scored a second goal.

In the last minute of the game, Robert Lewandowski converted with a header after a fine individual action by Ferran Torres on the right to take a cross from the right. The poll kept the suspense on the closing, but the result did not come out again.

Barcelona lost again after three consecutive wins and was left with 85 points. For their part, Real Sociedad secured an important victory in the battle to qualify for the UEFA Champions League and reached 65 points to settle for fourth place.
