The Bellas Fashionistas will host their 2nd Annual Latin Golf Tournament and Awards Dinner on Tuesday, September 12 at Pelham Bay and Split Rock Golf Course in New York. This year, the event will benefit one of their philanthropic efforts, Bellas Teen Summit.
“We need to promote our future young Latinas, to meet leaders and executives that they can identify with and achieve success. That is our goal. Create access and provide resources for opportunities for students in the Bronx, New York area,” Fleriser Bello, executive director of Bellas Fashionistas, said in a statement.
The event will also honor the achievements of prominent Latinas, including some of the leading trailblazers who are paving the way for the next generation of Latinas. This year’s honorees are Marcela Berland, founder and CEO of Latin Insights; dr. Helen Arteaga-Landaverde, CEO of NYC Health & Hospital/Elmhurst; Raquel Tamez, Director of Inclusion and Engagement at Charles River Associates and Meiling Macias-Toro, Co-Founder, Partner and Executive Producer at Freedom Studios, Inc.
The keynote speaker was Elizabeth Vélez, president and director of the Vélez Organization.
And in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, attendees will enjoy a special live performance by singer, songwriter and activist Sophia Angelica.
Confirmed attendees include Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson; Deputy County President Janet Peguero and Assemblywoman Yudelka Tapia.
Bellas Fashioinistas has been working to amplify the voices of successful Latinas since 2014. Their mission is to change the narrative for Latina women by giving them access to opportunities and training young people. women who become women of value. Promoting mentoring programs that help bring positive change in their lives through economic empowerment, leadership development and social programs.
