Bengali TV actress Pallavi Dey, who has featured in shows like Ami Sirajer Begum, Resham Jhapi, Kunjchaya, was found dead at her flat in Kolkata’s Garfa on Sunday. According to police sources, the actress, who is currently in the lead role in the TV show ‘Mon Mane Na’, was found hanging from the fan.
Pallavi was taken to MR Bangur Hospital in Kolkata, where she was declared brought dead. Police is investigating the case. His body has been sent for postmortem. The news has left his co-stars and fans in deep shock.
Based on preliminary investigation, the police suspect that Pallavi died by suicide. “Prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide. However, the final conclusion can be drawn only after the post-mortem report comes. We have started investigation after registering a case of unnatural death.”
It is learned that the deceased actress has been living in a rented house in South Kolkata since April 24 this year. Sagnik Chakraborty, who is said to be his live-in partner, had been living with him in the same house since the beginning.
While her family is alleging wrongdoing, police officials are also questioning Pallavi’s live-in partner Sagnik Chakraborty. However, Saganik’s parents have denied all allegations and insisted that the young couple had no major problems.
Speaking to the media, Sangnik’s mother was quoted by ETimes as saying, “They used to live together. Although we weren’t in full support, we allowed them as they got older. I had asked Sagnik several times to stay somewhere else and live with me after marriage. He didn’t have any major issues. I do not know what happened.”
His friends and colleagues in the Bengali television industry expressed shock over the development, while no one understood the reason behind this drastic step.
