Best Gaming Controller for Most Systems: 8BitDo Pro 2

The best controller is the one you’re most comfortable with. This is why one of the best fighting game players in the world can win the modern championship with a PlayStation 1 controller. When using a gamepad becomes second nature, playing becomes easier.

However, if you’re playing the game on different systems like your Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, and mobile devices, getting familiar between multiple controllers can be a problem. You can go with two or three controllers — or just one.

8 bitdo pro 2 There is a Bluetooth controller that works on PC, Mac, and even on mobile as well as on consoles like the Switch. It’s become one of my favorite third-party controllers, and it’s helped me with the slightest downside.

Here’s why it might be your new favorite controller.

Finding Controller Parity

If you’re someone like me who’s lucky enough to have tons of games to play on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PC, macOS, and smartphones, your home is probably also full of controllers. No matter how big your house is, it can be a bit of a hassle to have gamepads scattered throughout the house.

I’ve managed to declutter my home by attempting to create the greatest amount of controller similarity between all the devices I play games on. I’ve narrowed down my extensive library of controllers for each platform to two controllers for all of them: the PS5 DualSense and the PS5 DualSense. 8 bitdo pro 2,

Since the PS5’s DualSense controllers are one of the few that can make use of the system’s advanced features, there’s really no substitute for it. For everything else, the 8BitDo Pro 2 is the one I take when I want to play something.

8bitdo Pro 2 Features

The 8BitDo Pro 2’s layout feels like a mix between a classic PlayStation controller and an SNES gamepad—especially its gray color. It makes the controller feel familiar while establishing its identity.

The shoulder buttons are right where you expect them to be, along with the face button arrangement. Thumbsticks run across the bottom of the controller like a PlayStation gamepad, and unlike the diagonal orientation of Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X controllers.

The 8BitDo Pro 2 differentiates itself from other controllers by having a pair of buttons on its back in that I can map out various functions and even macros using an app. The same software lets me change the sensitivity of the thumbstick, triggers, and even the button mapping of the entire controller. These device tweaks are great because I can move these settings to any device I run them on because the changes are saved on the controller, not on the console.

The main reason the 8BitDo Pro 2 is my controller of choice for everything but the PS5 is that I can quickly switch which systems it controls. There’s a toggle on the back of the controller that immediately makes it compatible with Nintendo’s hardware, input standards for My Mobile devices, or Windows or Mac environments.

Switching profiles is painless. I can go through a multiplayer session of pokemon unite on my switch in the living room, a little hello infinity on my gaming PC in my office, and for some jenshin effect Comfortably in bed on my iPhone (with the controller’s optional phone clip). I also put in some runs exit the gun On my MacBook while writing this.

One controller to rule them all (mostly)

In an ideal world, we could have one controller for all of our gaming systems. Meanwhile, 8BitDo Pro 2 can do most of the tasks.

Its familiar design exudes a retro aesthetic, while its modern internal hardware makes it work with most gaming devices. Unlike controllers whose settings are tied to the systems they were designed for, the 8BitDo Pro 2 can be tweaked to your liking, and those settings will carry over to whatever is attached to it.

If I had to start all over again and had the choice between bespoke controllers for each of the game’s platforms or a single gamepad that could work with all of them, the 8BitDo Pro 2 would be my choice. It has everything that I need to enjoy all the games that I play with additional features that further enhance its capabilities.

Maybe one day we’ll have an 8BitDo controller that does exactly this all. In the meantime, the Pro 2 will remain the controller I literally bring home to play with.
