Better health study to get good job and salary

It ‘opens doors’ to the job market, ensures a decent income and trains a good number of professionals every year. According to the latest U-Ranking study on job placement in Spanish universities, these are the three advantages that make medicine degrees most attractive. If only health careers are taken into account, the second best is dentistry, which even surpasses medicine in specific aspects such as employability.

It is not that the occupancy rate in medicine career is bad. Quite the contrary: according to this job placement report from universities, this career has an employability rate of 95 percent (taking into account graduates in the 2015-16 academic year who were working after four years). A panorama of ‘full employment’ to which is added a high monthly income, as nine out of ten (91.8 percent) receive a net base of more than 1,500 euros. In 2020 alone, a total of 5,571 people completed their medical degree in Spain, of whom 99.2 percent work exclusively in their field of study.

Behind medicine there are a handful of careers with very good indicators in terms of both employment and salary conditions. In second place, for example, is aeronautical engineering, which has nearly identical rates of both employment (96.6 percent) and monthly income (91.8 percent receive more than 1,500 euros), although adjusting work to field of study (84.8 percent ).

To find the next health branch, you have to go to box eleven, where the dental career is located, which ‘exports’ around 1,780 professionals each year. Those who study this degree are practically sure that they get a job (96.4 percent), and almost seven out of ten (68.2 percent) earn more than 1,500 euros a month.

High Employability in Healthcare Careers

At the 14th position in this ranking is the pharmacy degree, which offers an employability rate of 92.9 percent. 70.4 percent of its alumni receive more than those 1,500 euros as a base. In the case of nursing (position 16), the employability rate of graduates is 92.7 percent, while 66.9 percent earn more than 1,500 euros.

The worst ranked health degree in this classification is psychology (82 out of 101). According to U-Rankings, this career offers an employment rate of 82.7 percent, but only 28.4 percent reach or exceed an income of 1,500 euros per month. Furthermore, the rate of people devoting themselves to their field of study is 69.3 percent.

Halfway through are degrees in physiotherapy (with an employability of 91.4 percent and a comfortable income level for 33.9 percent), veterinary medicine (88.1 percent and 39 percent, respectively); podiatry (96.9 percent and 41.0 percent) and biomedicine (92.9 percent and 52.7 percent).
