According to the Department of Transport, Government of Delhi, driving license and vehicle registration certificate kept in digital format on Digi-Locker platform or M-Transport mobile app are valid documents under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. According to the department, these are valid in accordance with the certificates issued by the Department of Transport. He clarified that soft copy of driving license and registration certificate in any other form would not be acceptable as original record.
What is DigiLocker?
DigiLocker is a way for you to save and secure documents such as your driving license and vehicle registration certificate. It was launched by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. In fact, this DigiLocker is linked to your Aadhaar card and phone number. In it you can save scanned copy of your documents by uploading in PDF, JPEG or PNG format. The most important thing is that you can also e-sign these documents. It works just like a self-attached digital document.
