During the current Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2020-21, the government has continued to procure Kharif 2020-21 crops on MSP from farmers as per their current Minimum Support Price (MSP) schemes. The Central Government has so far (21 January 2021 ) Has purchased paddy worth 1.09 lakh crore rupees. 82.71 lakh farmers have benefited from this. Paddy Procurement for Kharif 2020-21 Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal Like in the states / union territories, it is running smoothly.

Record purchases continue – More than 577.63 lakh MT of paddy has been procured this year (as on 21.01.2021) as compared to 472.82 lakh MT in the previous year, registering an increase of 22.16% over the previous year period. Out of the total procurement of 577.63 lakh MT, Punjab alone has contributed 202.77 lakh MT, which is 35.10% of the total purchase.

How many purchases were made in which state

In addition, 51.66 lakh metric tonnes under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) from the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh for the Kharif Marketing Season 2020 based on the proposal from the states Approval was given for the purchase of pulses and oilseeds. In addition, 1.23 lakh metric tonnes of copra (perennial crop) was also approved for the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

In addition, 2.50 lakh metric tonnes of pulses and oilseeds were approved for the Rabi marketing season 2020-2021 for the states of Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.

Approval for pulses, oilseeds and copra will also be given on receipt of proposals for purchase from other states / union territories under PSS.

So that procurement of FAQ grade of these crops on the basis of notified MSP for the year 2020-21, in the event of market rate falling below MSP during the notified crop period, by the Central Nodal Agencies through designated procurement agencies on behalf of the State concerned states / Can be done directly from the registered farmers in the Union Territories.

As on 21.01.2021, the government through its nodal agencies has procured 2,98,796 metric tonnes of moong, urad, groundnut pods and soyabean with an MSP value of Rs 1620.41 crore, thereby providing 1 in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Haryana and Rajasthan. 60,649 farmers have benefited.

Similarly, 5089 MT of copra (perennial crop) has been procured by 21.01.2021 at an MSP value of Rs 52.40 crore, benefiting 3961 farmers from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

In terms of copra and urad, rates in most major producing states are higher than the MSP. The Governments of the concerned State / Union Territory are making necessary arrangements in relation to the kharif crop pulses and oilseeds on the basis of inward procurement from the date fixed by the respective states.

The procurement process of seed cotton (cotton) under MSP is going smoothly in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Karnataka. As of 21 January 2021, 8699218 cotton bales were purchased, valued at Rs 25412.39 crore, benefiting 1787801 farmers.
