Billie Eilish’s revelation about her identity and her support of the LGBTQ+ community has had an impact on her Instagram follower base.
Because the singer openly shared his support and declared that he is not completely heterosexual, but rather, in his own words, ‘like men and women’, he lost more than 100,000 followers on Instagram.
The revelation came in an interview with Variety, where he mentioned that he likes women. Then, through an Instagram post, Billie wrote the following:
“Thank you Variety for my award and also for exposing me to a red carpet at 11 in the morning instead of talking about anything important. I like men and women, please let me be alone about it. Literally, who cares? Listen to ‘what am I made for’.”
This has generated different opinions among Billie Eilish’s followers. While many admirers supported him, others mentioned that Variety did not “expose” him, but he himself decided to mention that he likes women.
This difference in opinions led some followers to unfollow the singer on Instagram.
However, many of her fans admire the courage of the American to openly share her identity and support the LGBTQ+ community.
