Dr Akash Shah, head of the department of dentistry at Jahangir Hospital, Pune, said, “Many people are avoiding traditional options containing synthetic chemicals and choosing products that harness the power of nature. This trend marks a broader move toward holistic dental care. With fluoride often found in traditional toothpaste, there is growing interest in fluoride-free alternatives enriched with natural ingredients such as neem, tea tree oil and aloe vera – which promote a balanced and natural oral care routine. He highlights, “Organic essential oils, such as peppermint and eucalyptus, are gaining popularity for their natural antiseptic properties, contributing not only to the refreshing taste but also fighting bacteria for fresher breath.” Toothpaste formulations with baking soda, activated charcoal and bentonite clay offer effective and gentle polishing of teeth without abrasive ingredients. This shift towards natural oral care extends to mouthwashes, where herbal extracts and essential oils Replaces artificial colors and alcohol.
