New Delhi: Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravi Shankar Prasad fiercely targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. A day before the minister’s remarks, a Delhi court found Ariz Khan, along with his accomplices, guilty of assault on the Delhi Police and Batla House.
Prasad said at a press conference at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, “Samajwadi Party, BSP, Congress, Left and Mamata Banerjee made the Batla House incident a national issue. What does it mean? Does our fight against terrorism go to vote Would be weak? ” He went on to say, “Today, after more than 100 people testify, scientific and medical evidence, will the parties apologize after a major terrorist has been convicted in the case?”
He also targeted Congress President Sonia Gandhi. “You may have heard Salman Khurshid saying that Sonia Gandhi had tears in her eyes when she came to know that two terrorists had been killed,” the news agency ANI quoted Prasad as saying.
The minister said there was a “conscious, deliberate and persistent effort” to raise serious doubts over the authenticity of the Batla House incident.
A Delhi court on Monday convicted Arise Khan in connection with the 2008 Batla House encounter case, which was arrested in February 2018. The court said Ariz Khan and others intentionally killed Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma and hurt head constables Balwant Singh and Rajbir Singh.
Ariz Khan is allegedly associated with the terrorist organization Indian Mujahideen. He was arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police after absconding for a decade.
According to Delhi Police, Ariz Khan was on the scene during the encounter, but managed to escape.
