BJP gives ticket to actress Shrabanti Chatterjee against TMC veteran Parth Chatterjee

Kolkata: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded popular Bengali actress Shrabanti Chatterjee from Behala West seat in the upcoming West Bengal assembly elections against senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and Minister of State Partha Chatterjee.

As soon as his candidacy was announced, Shrabanti started campaigning door-to-door in the Behala assembly constituency.

Speaking to the media, the Bengali actor said, “I am excited. When I came to know that the BJP has given me a ticket from Behala West, I could not stop myself from coming out. I am getting the support of the people here . “

She joined the BJP on 2 March and was announced as one of the party’s candidates on Thursday.

The BJP on Thursday released a list of 148 candidates for the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth phases of the West Bengal assembly elections.

BJP supporters vandalize party office in Jalpaiguri

BJP supporters vandalized and set fire to his party office in Jalpaiguri before the West Bengal assembly elections. According to sources, he was upset with his candidate not getting a ticket in the upcoming elections.

Sources said, “As soon as the list of candidates was announced, BJP leaders and activists became angry. They vandalized the BJP office and set fire to the candidate demanding change.”

Advocate Sujit Sinha has been selected as BJP’s candidate for the Sadar Assembly seat of Jalpaiguri.

The elections to the 294-member state assembly will end on April 29 in eight phases starting from March 27. Votes will be counted on 2 May.
