BLM St. Paul founder who stops saying black lives are ‘racist’ case against black children over charter schools

The founder of a Black Lives Matter chapter in St. Paul, Minnesota, said the leftist organization practices a form of racism because it opposes school choice.

Rashard Turner, who left Black Lives Matter, released a video last week in which he says he learned the ‘ugly truth’ of the group, claiming that ‘they have little concern about rebuilding black families, and they still have less concerned with improving the quality of education. for students in Minneapolis. ”

In an interview Wednesday with Fox News, he said Black Lives Matter came out and publicly pointed out the opposition of trade schools, which he said was a ‘direct attack on black families’ and ‘on black children’.

Black Lives Matter has been “co-opted by teachers’ unions, specifically at the national level, the American Federation of Teachers, and here locally in Minnesota, Minnesota,” Turner said. “These teachers ‘unions own the Democrats, they own BLM, and in my opinion teachers’ unions are killing the hopes and dreams of our children. So if we are thinking of doing black children what is best for black families, we need to start with education. ”

The Epoch Times contacted Black Lives Matter’s main organization for comment on Turner’s comments.

Turner said in Tuesday’s interview that Black Lives Matter has made dubious policy proposals over the years.

“I mean, after the last two school years, there’s no way people can think that things like savings accounts will not be good for families,” Turner added Tuesday. ‘I’m going to tell you, there is not one black family in my neighborhood in St. Louis. Paul who said, ‘Hey, we do not want the money to follow our child. ‘Anyone who opposes school choice, charter schools, you were right, I would say they are a racist. Because we know that business schools create opportunities, we know that the money is supposed to educate our children. ”
