Boric and human rights violations:

President Gabriel Boric once again referred to human rights violations in Nicaragua and Venezuela, indicating that it bothers them when leftists condemn countries like Yemen or El Salvador, but do not speak to countries with leftist governments. Huh.

President Gabriel Boric attended a world leaders event at Columbia University this Thursday, where he noted human rights violations committed by leftist governments in Latin America such as Nicaragua or Venezuela.

During his presentation in Colombia, Boric assured that it bothers him when leftists condemn human rights violations in countries like Yemen or El Salvador, but ignore the situation in Nicaragua or Venezuela.

“It annoys me when you’re left-wing and you can condemn human rights violations in Yemen or El Salvador, but you can’t talk about Venezuela or Nicaragua … or Chile. In Chile we have social outbreaks.” We have committed serious human rights violations in the U.S., we cannot have double standards”, he remarked.

Along the same lines, Boric indicated that he began to consider the situation in Venezuela when he was deputy, recalling that he had visited in 2010 when Hugo Chavez was still alive and he did not like what he saw. .

“I started asking myself questions about Venezuela, when I saw the suppression of protests, some election manipulation, and I thought it was not right. We have to criticize it, and the people on the left in Chile said ‘No, no, no. We don’t talk about our friends… I think that’s completely wrong.”

“If we want a future in which the Left has only one moral standard, in the world and in Latin America, especially for human rights, we cannot condemn certain states or the United States, if you are able to see Not what your allies are or what do you think your allies are doing. That’s what I think,” the president said.

The republic’s president’s words come a day after Diosado Cabello, Venezuela’s deputy and number two of Chavismo, insulted him and referred to him as “bobo” or “gafo” to underscore his criticism of the Nicolas Maduro regime.
