LONDON ( Associated Press) – Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has signed a deal to write an autobiography of his turbulent time in office, which began with a promise to finalize Britain’s exit from the European Union and scandals. and ended with his resignation.
Publisher HarperCollins announced on Monday that the as-yet-untitled book will be the autobiography of a prime minister “unlike any other”.
Johnson became prime minister in July 2019 and took Britain out of the European Union the following year. During his government, the coronavirus pandemic struck, he also contracted the disease and ended up in intensive care, eventually becoming embroiled in scandals surrounding his finances and ethics.
He was forced to resign in July 2022 after dozens of members of his government resigned in protest.
No publication date has been given for the book, which will be released in the UK by the William Collins imprint of HarperCollins. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
“I look forward to working with Boris Johnson as he writes an account of his time in office during some of the most significant events in the UK in recent times,” said Arabella Pike, editorial director at William Collins.
Johnson, who was a journalist, wrote several books about Prime Minister Winston Churchill, including “The Churchill Factor”. In 2015, he signed a deal for a book on William Shakespeare, originally scheduled for publication in 2016, but later delayed indefinitely.
