Broncos Mailbag: Can Jerry Jeudy reach 1,000 yards in the second season, run 10 times?

Ryan O’Halloran, author of the Denver Post Broncos, regularly posts his Broncos Mailbag during the off-season. Send questions to Ryan here.

Hey Ryan, outside quarterback, what are the other position fights we have to watch during training camp?

– Marshall, Parker

Start running backwards: Does Melvin Gordon retain the starting lineup to start the season or does the Broncos’ coaches develop enough confidence in newcomer Javonte Williams to play him?

Start right approach: Bobby Massie is the favorite start of the camp, but he needs to stay healthy to get rid of Cam Fleming and / or Calvin Anderson.

Number 4-6 defensive lineouts: The frontrunners are Shelby Harris, Mike Purcell and Dre’Mont Jones. Who gets the lead for the three spots – Shamar Stephen, McTelvin Agim, DeShawn Williams or maybe even Marquiss Spencer? Stephen is a lock, I think.

Number 3-5 safety: The beginners are Justin Simmons and Kareem Jackson. If the Broncos hold five safety zones, it’s Caden Sterns, Jamar Johnson, Trey Marshall and PJ Locke for three spots.

Tell me why this team in their current state should be better than any of the team since Super Bowl 50? I feel like we’re still going to drift close to .500 and pick another first round in the mid teens.

Let me think about it. … Er, need another minute. … Uh, I’m calling time-out to find out something.
