Bed bugs are a growing problem in many homes. Millions of people all over the world have to face this scourge. These insects feed on human blood and are very difficult to get rid of, causing various damages to the home.
A breakthrough against pests: BugSafe
Louis Gérondeau, an engineer specializing in artificial intelligence, has created BugSafe, an innovative device to combat bed bugs. This system works by intercepting insects in their natural path, which helps prevent infections. In addition, BugSafe stands out for its simplicity and effectiveness, as it does not require electricity or chemicals to operate.
How BugSafe Works
BugSafe is no ordinary footboard. Its installation is simple: it is screwed to the base of the bed and a protective ring is placed on the foot, which traps bed bugs. This feature allows users to sleep peacefully, knowing that bed bugs will be caught before they reach them. In addition, the protective ring makes it easy to identify possible infestation early.
The BugSafe design exploits a key weakness of bed bugs: their inability to climb smooth surfaces or jump. This characteristic makes it effective in preventing infestations. In addition, the device offers continuous protection and reduces the size of the infestation by mechanically trapping insects.
BugSafe has been recognized for its innovation and effectiveness, winning the silver medal at the Lépine 2023 competition. It is available for purchase in different sizes and quantities, priced at 105 euros for a set of four which are 15 cm pieces. More information and orders at bugsafe.fr
