The Graciliano Urbaneja Antisocial Center is just fifteen years old and its facilities are greatly reduced to accommodate the more than a dozen associations that are headquartered there. To meet this demand, the mayoral candidate for the Socialist Party, Daniel de la Rosa, plans to expand the center by adding a new building belonging to the military hospital complex, if he reaches an agreement with the Ministry of Defense. reaches: “I have held talks with the sub-delegation of the Government to enable INVID (Defence Housing, Infrastructure and Equipment Institute) to make a proposal for assignment, use, exchange or directly to the City Council to purchase accommodation halls settlement, which has separate living space. The building he mentions is also a sweet tooth for the University of Burgos, as recognized by the socialist candidate. But still, he believes it would be beneficial for Burgos to give it a social-sanitary use: “The UBU is trying to expand in that environment. But I will try to convince the rector that this building will be more useful. The city is dedicated to these associations. The university has other places to expand in the plots we recently handed over. And this is a necessity”.
De la Rosa, on the other hand, has highlighted the economic support that his government’s team has given to these associations during his tenure: “We went from allocating more than 57,000 euros in 2017 to 158,000 euros in 2023 are. More than three times what was allocated in the previous municipal mandate. This government team has demonstrated that collusion, that support, that solidarity and that joint action that we must take within the few powers that we have that are limited.
