As part of the celebration of the 213th anniversary of Mexico’s independence, the government of Ensenada unveiled a bust of Jorge Negrete, one of the greatest exponents of folk music and actor of the golden age of cinema, in the Plaza del Músico. Mexican.
Mayor Armando Ayala Robles, accompanied by Councilor Norma Silva Aguirre, thanked the presence of Lorenzo Negrete, grandson of Charro Cantor, at this tribute, carried out at the request of the local associations of singers, composers and musicians that fill every weekend with music the public spaces of the community.
He specified that one of the goals of his administration is to strengthen roots and a sense of belonging so that new generations know, preserve and transmit Mexican traditions, including the legacy of great exponents of ranchera music.
Armando Ayala added that this bust contributes to the renovation efforts of the historic center, an area where more than 140 million pesos have been invested in improving streets, sidewalks, lighting, street furniture and the dignity of public squares and parks.
