The Island Council of La Gomera presents cultural events for Canary Islands Day. Theatrical performances, as well as concerts, will tour all the municipalities of the island, until full capacity is reached.
The event will begin this Friday, May 19 at 8:00 pm, at the La Gomera Auditorium, with the theatrical show ‘La Inmorteliti’ by Delirium Teatro Company. With a history of more than 35 years, it is one of the most valuable companies in the archipelago, with a presence both nationally and internationally, making strides in the Americas and Africa.
Likewise, on Saturday 20 May, the same stage will pay tribute to the La Gomera Orchestra through a musical performance called ‘Dice que te vas para la Gomera’, which will start at 9:00 pm, accompanied by the famous voices of the business. Personalities, such as Dory Cabeza (Los Chávez), Tere Negrín (Los Bajip), Tomás Duque (Vampi Orchestra), Juan Manuel Álvarez (Atlantic Orchestra), Mari Neri (Chinguarim Orchestra), Paco González (La Marina Orchestra), Miguel Angel Garcia (Gomera Orchestra) and Aaron Morales (Rocacon Orchestra).
There will be two events simultaneously on Friday 26th May. On the one hand, the theatrical show ‘La Elvira. ‘An Immigrant’s Story’ by Zalatta Teatro Company, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Island Auditorium.
On the other hand, and at the same time, the Hermigua Casino Cultural Center will host a musical performance of the Eslabones group, composed of Eduardo Duque, Diego Chinia, Francisco Martín and Daniel Ventura.
Similarly, on Monday, May 29 at 7:00 pm, the Escalabones group will perform again and later, at 8:00 pm, there will be two parallel musical performances: a musical performance by the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Musical Association, in the Insular Auditorium , while at the Valle Gran Rey House of Culture a meeting of soloists under the name ‘Cantos de Canarias’ will be held.
On Tuesday, May 30, Canary Islands Day, Trio Zapatista, a group from La Palma with more than 20 years of experience, will host a musical performance at 8:00 pm in Plaza Leoncio Bento de Agulo. The next day, Wednesday 31 May, and at the same time, the group from La Palma would perform again, this time, in the Assembly Hall of the Alajero Town Hall.
To round off the commemorative events of Canary Islands Day on Friday 2 June, Burka Teatro Company brings the show ‘Therumtob’ to the Insular Auditorium starting at 8:00 pm.
exhibitions
Apart from this, two exhibitions will be held simultaneously. Aside, From May 4 to 31, The public will be able to see the paintings of José Pedro Sabina in the Casa de Colón, and meanwhile, in the Cabeldo Exhibition Hall, the exhibition ‘Gomera Crafts’ will be displayed, which will be open to the public. Mars program
Theatrical performance ‘La Elvira. The Story of an Emigrant by Zalatta Teatro Company, within the framework of the collaboration between the Island Council and the Canarian Institute of Cultural Development through the MARS program.
This program allows groups and companies to perform their shows on islands other than their residence. This is done in collaboration with the Espacios Escénicos Públicos de Canarias, and aims to offset the added cost of insularity that prevents cultural activity in the region fragmented into eight islands from being profitable.
