California lawmakers target gun makers, firearms in consumer accounts

SACRAMENTO, California ( Associated Press) – California state lawmakers on Tuesday stepped in to make it easier to overturn federal law to prosecute gun makers, with opponents saying it was ultimately aimed at expelling manufacturers.

A special committee has been set up to develop a draft law targeting firearms, and a third committee has approved a law requiring arms dealers to install digital video surveillance systems..

The police are among many bullying that they are encouraged by the mass of bullets, including the battle of a gangs. Earlier this month, six people were killed and 12 were injured in what became known as the State Capitol.

Democrat councilor Phil Ting says their law makes it easier to hold gun makers or dealers accountable for fatal or fatal shooting. That may include those who sell “ghost gun” kits that do not have serial numbers.

Federal law prohibits most charges against the gun industry. However, U.S. law allows for certain liability, including violation of state or local laws regarding the sale and sale of firearms. Last year, New York passed the country’s first law Declaring such violations “public harassment”, prosecuting gun makers, although the law was challenged by the manufacturers in court.

California already has some of the nation’s toughest arms restrictions.

Legal Analysts are among the 107 existing California gun laws that require a 10-day waiting period, a background check for both firearms and ammunition, a ban on firearms, including assault rifles, and a 10-day ban on ammunition magazines.

“We are proud of having the right gun control laws,” Ting said. “We have done better than other regions but it is still not enough.”

Gun control activists say federal law has previously punished manufacturers or sellers who were irresponsible or negligent in the sale of firearms.

Ting account It requires arms manufacturers and merchants to “take reasonable precautions” in the manufacture and sale of their weapons under the arms industry standard. This, he said, could include things like teaching buyers how to store and use the device safely.

They are also barred from making or distributing firearms that could “cause serious and unreasonable harm to public health and safety” under Brady Campaign and state attorney general Rob Bonta.

As of July 2023, violators can be prosecuted by the Attorney General, city or county attorneys, or any other injured person. They may also be charged with violating other laws, including false advertising, unfair competition, or fraudulent activities.

“We think it will be a good opportunity to return power to the victims of gun violence,” said Tin. And we really want them to think more about how to sell their equipment by holding this industry accountable. “

According to the National Rifle Association, the real purpose of the bill is to “torment the arms industry in the most expensive of circumstances.”

“Almost anyone can file a civil lawsuit against the arms industry,” the California Rifle and Pistol Association said in a statement. “It is an attack on the legitimate arms trade with the intention of restricting the supply of weapons.”

Roy Griffiths, California Legislature director of law, said the idea “is in direct conflict with federal law.”

He equated it with allowing drivers to get drunk on cars.

“This industry will receive protection that no other industry in the United States has,” Ting replied. “A gun is not a car. The purpose of the gun is to injure the other person. ”

The congressional hearing about that were exactly where the case came from.

A special congressional committee has been set up to draft legislation targeting “ghost guns” that law enforcement agencies have seen increase in recent years. The U.S. Department of Justice reports that nearly 20,000 have been rehabilitated Nationally, nearly twice as many were arrested last year in 2020.

The move comes days after President Joe Biden announced plans to finalize the new Department of Justice. To strike with a shotgun without a hitch.

During a shooting in Santa Clarita, Mia Tretta said, “He has a credit card and a limited amount of Ikea furniture, and he can make the same gun that killed my two classmates and changed mine forever.” The 2019 attack on Sausage High SchoolShe is now a junior. She also spoke on bidding.

California law requires that anyone building a firearm apply to the State Department of Justice for a serial number on the firearm.

Congressman Mike Gipson Bill has banned the sale of unfinished firearms until the federal government controls them. The measure will take effect on January 1 and will give California armed men without registration numbers six months to register and increase the numbers.

Sam Predes, director general of California gun owners, says the focus is on superpowers.

“Personalized firearms are used for less than 1 percent of all executions,” the Pentagon said in a statement. “There is no evidence that they are the cause of the spread of violent crime.”
