California man charged with perjury in Hollywood execution suit

NEW YORK—New York federal prosecutors have charged a Los Angeles man with allegedly falsifying emails to support his lawsuit against entertainment industry executives.

Rovier Carrington, 22, was arrested in California on Tuesday and released on $15,000 bail after appearing in court.

A message seeking comment was sent to his court-appointed lawyer.

Manhattan U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss said in a release Wednesday that Carrington had made “extremely serious allegations” that Hollywood executives sexually assaulted her and refused to produce her reality television program when she refused. had cheated them. She said she lied about the forged evidence back then.

Perjury charges were filed against Viacom and Paramount Pictures executives after the fallout of his 2018 Manhattan trial in which he claimed he was the victim of sex crimes, unfair competition, fraud, misappropriation and other misdemeanors.

He claimed in the lawsuit that he “belonged to Hollywood royalty” as the great-grandson of one of “The Three Stooges” and was a writer, actor, and TV show producer who starred in a reality television show in 2010. . : “The Life of a Trendsetter.”

After defendants in the civil action presented evidence that the emails were fabricated, Judge Katherine Polk Fella in Manhattan ordered Carrington to pay $600,000 in attorneys’ fees and costs.

She said that Carrington had taken steps, including discarding an iPhone, to destroy evidence in the case while the defendants were trying to obtain as much information as possible about his allegations.

Fella dismissed the lawsuit, not allowing Carrington to refine it, but she declined a request by the defendants to make a criminal referral to federal prosecutors.

Prosecutors said Wednesday that the email series Carrington submitted to support his lawsuit were fake and that he was unable to produce the original version of any series. He added that even the versions of the email chains he offered may not be located in the email accounts of the alleged recipients.
