California pastor passes COVID-19 vaccine religious exemption cards

A Northern California pastor is giving a COVID-19 vaccine religious exemption card to people who do not want to be vaccinated.

Greg Fearrington, pastor of Destiny Christian Church in Rocklin, told The Epoch Times that he began the process of making religious exemption cards after receiving calls from his congregation in distress about potentially losing his job because of not getting a vaccine.

“People are scared, we’ve got thousands of emails coming to our church,” Fearrington said. “There are many people who are getting affected by these mandates. It’s not just healthcare workers, it’s teachers, it’s first responders, and it’s just a ripple effect that people are going to lose their jobs. ”

Over the past few weeks, Fearrington has spoken to health care professionals in his congregation who said they were afraid of losing their jobs without religious exemptions to the COVID-19 vaccine.

“People are desperate right now, and I understand that COVID is a very real thing, I’m not downplaying the challenge, but people are terrified,” he said. “We are not anti-vaccination, but we are pro-freedom, and a person must get to choose and especially because our First Amendment to the US Constitution protects freedom of religion and the free exercise of it.”

Over the weekend, Farrington printed 3,000 religious exemption cards for those in the congregation who believed receiving the vaccine would go against their beliefs and leave them morally compromised.

While the clergy is unaware whether religious exemptions will be accepted in establishments, he thinks it will be up to the court to determine whether the vaccine mandate goes against freedom of religion.

He added that Farrington will continue to assist members of the congregation this coming weekend.

The effort by Farrington comes shortly after California introduced a new mandate required health care workers And school staff Either to get the COVID-19 vaccine or get tested weekly.
