California town where Prince Harry lives evacuated by storm

Los Angeles (USA), 9 January. The Californian town of Montecitos, where Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle reside, as well as presenter Oprah Winfrey, was called to evacuate due to the wave of cyclones threatening the US state.

“The entire community of Montecito (…) Evacuate now! The situation is evolving very quickly,” the Montecito Fire Department announced in a statement addressed to residents of the city and surrounding valleys.

The community near Santa Barbara has become another victim of the environmental disasters brought on by the atmospheric river and cyclone bomb that the state has been experiencing since late 2022, which has caused flooding and left a large part of the area without power Is.

The floods have so far killed 12 people, according to local media, with 90% of the state’s population under watch for flood risk and more than 100,000 people continued without power on Monday afternoon from strong storms.

The National Weather Service also reported on social networks that another series of dangerous winds will continue to hit the state this Monday night and into Tuesday afternoon.

In addition, it has issued flood warnings for areas surrounding Los Angeles, including Orange County and the San Bernardino Mountains.

It is not yet known whether Prince Harry, who is promoting his memoir “Spare,” is at home with Markle and their children.

This Monday, United States President Joe Biden, who is currently in Mexico, declared a state of emergency in California.

It allows state government as well as local administration to access federal resources to deal with disasters caused by storms. efe
