Call to conclude the celebration of women in Durham

Durham – Information boards, women’s testimonies and surprises, something will happen at the annual InStepp Convention, which in collaboration with other organizations will conclude the Women’s Month in Durham.

“SUMA 2023: The Seed of Unity among self-sufficient women” is the name of the meeting, where women will be able to learn about opportunities for job, personal and immigration growth, said Martha Morales, program manager of InStepp.

In an interview with Qué Pasa, Morales commented that InStepp has a conference every year. In this edition, various organizations such as Mil Mujeres, the Business Center of the Technical Community College of Durham, the Business Center for Women of North Carolina and the Spanish American Chamber of Commerce joined with the governments of Guatemala and Mexico to celebrate women.

“Celebrating women’s events and publicizing opportunities for business, employment, immigration and personal growth; as well as connect with the network of professionals we have in North Carolina and explore more resources within the state.”

The panel said that the issue of women in the Hispanic community is important, for survivors of crimes of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking “which is the focus of the Nueva Vida InStepp program.”

For five hours, from morning to two in the afternoon, they will listen to the Mexican and Guatemalan consuls, who are the main speakers, they will also receive information from twenty different institutions and enjoy breakfast and lunch. .

Convention

According to Morales, who is the director of the cultural program until 2018, more than 150 women are expected to participate. Attendees will hear the testimonies of people who have changed their lives after suffering crimes and are now citizens or residents. He said he would be surprised for the attendees who visit the exhibitor’s tables and decisions.

The convention will feature sessions on career development, employment and education opportunities, among other topics.
