Colombian EPS Capital Salud signs a contract with a global network of health clinics cannabis Khiron’s wholly owned pharmaceutical company, Xerenia, to provide services and products on this optional basis to its patient population. The idea is that, in accordance with the contract, EPS patients have access to Khyron’s comprehensive health and pharmacotherapeutic treatment services with medicinal cannabis, which are fully reimbursed by Capital Salud.
The public insurance company, which is owned by the City Council of Bogotá, has members of over 1.2 million people in and around the city, including over 280,000 active patients with conditions such as pain, epilepsy and mental health, a focus population known as the Medical Center. Will be directed by Cannabis Services. Omar Perilla Ballesteros is currently the manager of Capital Salud EPS-S.
Zerenia has already started treating the first group of Capital Salud patients with medical cannabis.
The agreement is part of the Bogotá Mayor’s Office’s commitment to establish the city as a center for the research, production and commercialization of medical cannabis for Colombia and Latin America.
For this reason, councilor Juan Baena, who is leading the initiative, said: “This Capital Salud EPS seeks to materialize Agreement 831 that we promoted in the Bogotá City Council with the aim of turning Bogotá into the medical cannabis hub of the country”. .
