There is an improvement in the sales of passenger vehicles in August 2021 ahead of the festive season. If we look at the top 15 car makers, the total sales of passenger vehicles stood at 2.6 lakh units, which is 11 percent more than 2.34 lakh vehicles sold in August 2020. However, there has also been a decline of 11 percent in the sale compared to July 2021. The biggest turnaround in August was made by Nissan Motors, which registered a growth of 296.17 per cent over the previous year.
More than 60,000 Magnite booked
In the month of August, Nissan India has sold a total of 3209 vehicles. Whereas in August 2020 last year, only 810 units of Nissan were sold. That is, with a total difference of 2,399 vehicles, the company has grown at an annual rate of about 300 percent. The biggest contributor to the company’s sales has been the company’s sub-compact SUV Nissan Magnite. According to the company, since the launch of this SUV, more than 60,000 units have been booked. In August, Nissan ranked 11th in passenger vehicle sales.

Here are the top 5 car companies in August
Despite the decline, Maruti Suzuki remained the largest passenger vehicle seller in August. The company has sold 1,03,187 units in August 2021, a decline of 8.7 per cent as against 1,13,033 units sold in August 2021. South Korean car company Hyundai has been at the second position in August, with 46,866 units sold. In this way, the company achieved a growth of 2.31 percent as compared to August 2020 (45,809 units).

Tata Motors is at number three in the list, with 28,018 units sold in August 2021. Tata Motors has also achieved a year-on-year growth of 50.77 per cent. Similarly, Kia India is at the fourth position and Mahindra & Mahindra at the fifth position. In August 2021, they have sold 16,750 units and 15,913 units respectively. These companies have registered a growth of 54.45 per cent and 17.01 per cent on a yearly basis.
