Carbayo assures that providing a home to those in Salamanca who are facing the most difficulties is one of his concerns

Supporting access to housing for Salamanca’s people with the most economic difficulties, mainly young people and families with children, is one of the main concerns for the Popular Party’s candidate for mayor of Salamanca, Carlos García Carbayo, whose “There will be another 121 social rental houses in the Municipal Park housing Salamanca”, it announced.

It is one of the main measures in social affairs that has been put forward this morning, showing that 18 of the 121 houses will be located in the Huerta Otia neighborhood; 55 in the Pizarrales neighborhood, and 48 Victoria will be part of a new coexistence center similar to Adrados that will open in the Capuchinos neighborhood and whose work will begin in June.

Priority to social policies

“Salamanca is at the forefront of social policies,” said the popular candidate, pointing out that six out of every ten euros spent during this mandate have been allocated for this purpose and that more than 140,000 Salamanca residents with fewer resources Residents have benefited from tax breaks, up to £28,000 per year, for example on public transport. Along these lines, he stressed that its continuation is assured, in view of the ambitious results and because the people, “our priority”, demand it as such.

During his speech, he focused on the municipal dependency care services that have provided coverage to more than 6,400 people, which will be reinforced in 2024 with the entry into operation of the laundry service in the Center for Economic Activities, a neighborhood from Buenos Aires.

“Streamlining and satisfying social demands through the decentralization of Social Action Centers (CEAS) has been a challenge for the municipal government during these four years: A new telephone service management system has been implemented, which has reduced the waiting time of citizens decreased by 60 percent. And, in addition, more social intervention jobs to assess situations of dependency, risk and intervention with minors, attention to people with disabilities or assessment of unhealthy conditions, among others, in each of the CEAS have been created.”

The popular candidate also wanted to remind that in April 2023 the Social Emergency Situations Service (SERES) was launched, which is run jointly by the Social Welfare Sector, the Salamanca Local Police and the Fire Service, stating that “any Not even a person in need is left without attending.”

García Carbayo also mentioned the “concrete” commitment achieved with the social economy institutions of the city, maintaining cooperation agreements for three million euros per year and employing around 180 people performing various tasks; For example, the company La Encina carries out pest control, Asprodes is responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of urban gardens, and Algo Nuevo is in charge of food delivery services.

Also in terms of cooperation, they focused on the agreements signed annually with about 50 public health associations and associations for drug addiction prevention and rehabilitation of people. Only in 2023 the municipal government will allocate 633,000 Euros. The popular candidate did not want to overlook the fact that Salamanca is one of the few cities in the country with a House of Mutual Aid association.
