Do you want to see Cars 4? Here we tell you everything we know and what you need to know about this potential Disney-Pixar film.
Let’s talk about everything you need to know about Cars 4. The successful, high-profile animation franchise has brought in more than $1.7 billion for the popular animation studio. In fact, it is now one of Disney’s largest merchandising companies. The last time we heard about this universe and its colorful characters was back in 2017, which seemed to bring an end to the entertaining film series after more than a decade on screen. However, we could still have something more.
Will we ever see the fourth film in the series?
Currently, No official confirmation from Cars 4 “I don’t know,” admitted the director of the third part in an interview with CinemaBlend. “To tell you the truth, I’m not sure. I actually don’t know the future of the franchise. I don’t know where we’ll go next. I don’t know if we’ll do one either. If so, will it be more about Lightning McQueen? This is the third act, but I don’t know how many acts he has in his life. I assume there will be other main characters. At the moment I have no idea. I believe anything is possible.”
“Anything could be,” he insisted. “If there’s a good story to tell… But as with every sequel, from Toy Story 4 to The Incredibles, as long as there’s a good story to tell, it’s worth the investment. We love these characters. “We love her as much as the public.” Of course, a lot has happened since that interview in 2017. Disney is keeping quiet about a possible Cars 4. However, franchise star Larry the Cable Guy (who played the popular tugboat Mate) believes there could and should be a fourth film.
Possible release date for Cars 4
Cars 4 currently has no place in the Pixar program. At least publicly. However, the animation giant has three open dates on the calendar. This means that this project could fit into any of these projects over the next two years. These three unnamed projects on Pixar’s schedule will be released on June 13, 2025, March 6, 2026, and June 19, 2026.
Traditionally, Pixar is known for releasing its highest-profile titles in June. So If Cars 4 is on the way, June 2025 or 2026 seems like the most logical date. Considering that 2026 marks the franchise’s 20th anniversary, it seems fitting that if a fourth film is in development, it would be released to celebrate two decades of Lightning McQueen and friends.
What could happen in the fourth part of the saga?
At the end of the third part, the saga’s protagonist, Lightning McQueen, seems to have left his racing days behind him. Instead, he decided to train the young and enthusiastic racing fan Cruz Ramírez. So if Disney wants to dive into this franchise again, We may need to go beyond the traditional racing story that the franchise has accustomed us to with Cars 4. Of course, they have to rely on a transition of the Toy Story legacy.
“I trust Pixar to create stories because they have a great track record of making films that work for kids and that adults and parents find entertaining,” Owen Wilson told CinemaBlend. “I imagine if they do another one it will be something really cool. But yeah… Maybe something like Lightning McQueen in some sort of thriller. Maybe it could be something else.”
