Nevertheless, the Interior Minister said a few days ago that she understood “the fear, the impact that certain types of crimes have, the concern, but we in Chile do not have an overwhelming situation.”
On the contrary, the governor of the metropolitan area, Claudio Orrego, warned: “In the last two weeks, 16 people have been murdered in the city of Santiago and we have had 26 unsuccessful murders.”
