ceasefire 13; White Sox beat Orioles 4-3

CHICAGO ( Associated Press) — Dylan Siege scored a career-high 13 runs in seven innings, Gavin Sheets homerided and the Chicago White Sox avoided a four-game series sweep, two runs as the Orioles beat Baltimore 4-3. 9th innings on Sunday.

Two errors by Cuban first baseman Jose Abreu helped the Orioles load the bases without an outside against Kendall Graveman when Jonathan Araz of Panama hit an RBI single.

Cedric Mullins reduced the deficit to 4-3 with a sacrificial fly after pinch-hitter Roughnad Odor was dismissed. Graveman made three saves to end the White Sox’s four-game losing streak by defeating Trey Mancini, thus avoiding their first four-game series sweep at home since September 2017 against Cleveland.

The Orioles’ longest streak of four wins also came to an end.

Siege (6-3), fifth in the major at a pregame strikeout, kept the Orioles off balance with a 90-mph fastball and changeups. The right-handed batsman allowed four hits, made a walk and trailed his career-high 11 strikes, which he matched in Chicago’s win over Toronto on Tuesday. He allowed only one run, that was Arz’s home run.

Anthony Santander of Venezuela 4-1 for the Orioles. Panamanian Jonathan Araz 4-2, another two RBIs. Dominican Jorge Mateo 3-0.

For the White Sox, Cubans Jose Abreu 3-2, scored two; and Louis Robert 4-0. Venezuela’s Lenin Sosa scored 3-1, scoring one goal.
