Over the next month, we’re going to look at a handful of draft prospects leading up to the 2022 NFL draft.
With the Chargers having needs at various positions, we will do our best to evaluate the players we feel fit the team exactly.
Today I watch Boise State wide receiver Khalil Shakir,
Khalil Shakir | Boise State | # 2 | Senior | Murrieta, CA | 6’0 ”| 196
40-yard Dash: 4.43
Bank pressure: NVT
Vertical jump: 34.5
3-cone drill: 7.28
20-yard shuttle: 4.21
Profession: Twice Mountain West first-team honors recipient and named to the 2021 preseason Biletnikoff Award watch list. Attended the Senior Bowl this past winter. Former four-star herb. For the Broncos, he scored 208 catches, 2,878 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns over 43 games.
Red flags: No
Strengths: Hardy, athletic receiver who has potential for dynamite every time he touches the ball. Sell cuts with deep, serious hip drops. Desired pace as a trail runner. Sharp understanding of how to change his coast and acceleration to set up defenders and push for separation. Exceptional ball track skills – concentrate through traffic and rise with authority. Can have the best set of hands in the draft. Pocket stunts after the catch are extensive, using hesitation, twisting and jumping cuts to dodge opponents. Aggressive and competitive playing style invites contact and does not allow divers to walk away unharmed. Excellent contact balance, vision and momentum transfer as a ball carrier. High-character player who brings competitive fire to the offense on every snap.
Weaknesses: Looks stiff and bony when needed to create or suddenly start and stop. Arms measured at 29 inches – are short and obstruct its catch radius. Catch with his body on many throws. Size can limit him to a limited role. Long speeds rarely pull away from defenders.
Final word: Khalil Shakir is explosive, dynamic and not afraid to put his body on the line for the sake of extra distance, Khalil Shakir is a grim player who will have little trouble meeting the competitive standards required by the NFL. With a good build and usable mix of speed and agility, Shakir can be a plague to bring down once the ball is within its security. Shakir projects as a Day 3 pickup that will offer play potential in a gadget roll and slot appearances.
Match Probability: Medium

Shakir simply wanted it more. Strong two-handed find while clamped between two BYU defenders and held by the contact.
