Chargers WR Mike Williams questionable due to knee injury

COSTA MESA, California (AP) — Wide receiver Mike Williams is in doubt with a knee injury for Sunday’s Los Angeles Chargers major AFC matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

Coach Brandon Staley said Williams had some swelling in his knee after last Sunday’s 47-42 win over the Cleveland Browns. Williams, who had a career-high 165 yards on eight receptions and two touchdowns in that game, didn’t practice all week, but Staley said he expected Williams to be in position before the team left for Baltimore on Saturday. And it will become clear.

“We tried to be careful with him at the start of the week this week to make sure he’s feeling his best for Sunday,” Staley said.

Williams is fifth in the league in receiving yards (571) and eighth in receiving yards with 31. With 34 catches from Keenan Allen, the Chargers are the only team in the NFL to have two receivers with 31 catches or more.

If Williams is unable to play, Jalen Guyton could get a start, with rookie Joshua Palmer seeing extra playing time.

Linebacker Drew Tranquil is out with a pectoral injury, while safety Nasser Ederle (hip) is in doubt.

Both teams come 4-1 in the game and are leading their respective divisions.
