Some young Cubans may opt for a Chevening scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies at an English university. This was confirmed by the embassy of the United Kingdom in Havana.
This opportunity is part of an annual program where the British government funds the best students from around the world. In this way, the registrations for the year 2024 will start next Tuesday, September 12.
Ana Laura, Eydimaris and Liber are three Cuban professionals who have benefited from this British government program. In fact, in the past years they studied a master’s degree in that country with all expenses paid.
In this sense, these scholarships allow young people from different latitudes to pursue master’s studies in one academic year in British territory.
For its part, the program has benefited more than 50,000 students from 160 countries. In the specific case of Cuba the number reached 120 graduates.
To do this, candidates with the ability to change, lead and plan actions are sought, but the contract requires them to return to their country of origin.
What are the requirements?
First, you must be a university graduate and have at least two years of work experience. On the other hand, you must not have benefited from British funds for studies in the United Kingdom.
It is important that those interested visit the official web portal so that they can find all the information they need there.
In this regard, academic documents, references and an unconditional university offer from a British institution are required to complete the application process.
That is, if the candidates are admitted to the university, they must apply to the scholarship program.
Finally, they will have an interview with British diplomats in Cuba, where they must demonstrate their potential and commitment to the Chevening community.
If selected, Chevening will cover the costs of their studies, as well as travel expenses, as well as monthly support.
