On Sunday morning, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel removed senior IAS officer Ranbir Sharma, who was slapped by the collector and threw the phone on the ground. Along with this, on the instructions of the Chief Minister, the District Magistrate called home and got the young man a new phone.
The young man said, I am satisfied with whatever action the administration has taken now. Earlier, CM Baghel tweeted, “The incident of misbehavior of a young man by Surajpur District Collector Ranbir Sharma has been brought to my attention by social media. It is extremely unfortunate and condemnable. Did not tolerate any such incident in Chhattisgarh.” Will be directed to remove the collector Ranbir Sharma immediately. ”
The Chief Minister said, “Misbehavior by an officer is unacceptable. I regret this incident.” The Government of Chhattisgarh has issued an order appointing Gaurav Kumar Singh, Chief Executive Officer of Raipur District Panchayat, as the new Collector of Surajpur.
Seeing the widespread anger against the officer after the video of the incident went viral, Sharma apologized in a statement saying that he never had any intention of “disrespecting or insulting the person in the video”. Sharma accused the man of misbehaving with the authorities. He also stated that contrary to media reports the man is not a minor and is in fact 23 years old.
It is worth mentioning that even before this, Ranbir Sharma has been disputed. He came into the limelight by the Anti Corruption Bureau acting as SDM at Bhanupratap in Kanker district. He was arrested taking a bribe of Rs 10,000.
