Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles ended the draft with 11 new players, but this was not enough to meet their roster needs.
So he decided to add depth by signing several unfinished free agents.
Poles said he wants his employees to sell players when they are able to compete for opportunities.
“It’s a crazy process,” he said on April 30. “They’re just scrambling in there and doing a really good job. It’s probably the best process — the way we started it after the draft tonight — that I’ve been a part of. Very systematic. Varying Using technology to stay connected and connected while you’re in rooms so you don’t get noisy and people scrambling and screaming. It’s a crazy time.
“But I will guarantee you that there will be some people out of this unpublished free-agent process who are going to grow and become good players.”
By the first day of the rookie minicamp Friday at Halas Hall, the Byers had brought in dozens of undrafted free agents and tryout players. Here is the complete list.
