The Investigative Police (PDI) conducted massive raids in the Arica and Parinacota area, which ended with the arrest of eight people linked to the “Aragua train”.
In coordinated work with the Ministry of Public Affairs, 31 houses located in the Cerro Chuno sector were raided by approximately 200 police officers from various regions of the country’s north. Altogether seven people were arrested; Five of Venezuelan nationality, in addition to one Peruvian and one Colombian.
Those detained will be brought before the Court of Guarantee in Arica to face custody control. They will be charged with illicit relations, drug trafficking, violation of arms laws, human trafficking and other crimes.
In addition, an operation called “Tren del Norte 3” captured a Venezuelan woman who coordinated the illegal activities of the criminal organization in that place. During the proceedings, it turned out that, after the previous arrest of most of the leaders of “Los Gallegos”, this woman had become the leader of operations, mainly in drug trafficking.
In this regard, regional prosecutor Mario Carrera explained that “basically we are investigating Los Gallegos and another cell called Tren del Corro. We already have 51 people in pre-trial detention, and eight of these Detainees have been added to this. Seven in flagrante delicto terms, as well as a woman who was held because of a pending arrest warrant.”
Along the same lines, he stressed that “mainly weapons have been recovered,” and recalled that “on this date last year we had more than twice as many homicides as today. The results are out.”
